Fine Art Friday #9
Bedtime.
Bedtime Routines.
Bath, pajamas, book, song, pray, song.
This was our pattern for the last almost 8 years (with a few switches here and there).
And now…
Every night my kids ask for stories — not books, stories from my childhood, how Dad and I met, about them as little ones.
I don’t know about you, but I find it really hard to recall *different* stories — and they absolutely do not want to hear the same ones over and over again —
One day I was just beeboppin’ along, slinging my favorite crossbody handbag from a garage sale (slinging was my mothers cooked term for my favorite pastime of swinging my purse like a lasso), and do you know what happened? I slung my purse all the way up to Mimi’s Waterford vase. Mimi’s favorite vase fell to the floor and shattered —
With all the emotions and thoughts pouring in (on no! What did I do?)
I turned tail and ran…
Right into the arms of my dad…
Who gave me a hug and forgave me.
Mooooom you tell that one all the time.
Moooom we’ve heard that for years.
Funpa (my dad) tells it better. 😂
The days are long, and we think we will remember all the stories, all the things, all the moments.
But really, unless we write them down we will forget.
— those funny words our kids said (Rillyrenda for Cinderella)
— those sweet moments
— basically your entire wedding day
That’s where a painting comes in — a living masterpiece of your most special moments so you can remember the feelings and the magic.
For example — the painting I told you about last week for Haley Kelly Events.
This one>>
I sketched two different sketches, one for color and one for black and white, painted one, and still didn’t feel it was right.
Classy and colorful, chick and sophisticated, but also a super fun party. How to show that in ONE image?
And then I thought of it. To combine different images and reimagine them into something new. The beauty of a painting — combining special moments to make one masterpiece.
I LOVE how it turned out – and I'd love to hear what you think too!
And stay tuned, because I’ve got something in the works to help you *remember* that I can’t WAIT to share.
Thanks again for welcoming me into your inbox every week. It’s truly a joy of mine to share these stories and BTS with you. ❤️
No matter how you got here, thank you. Thank you for supporting Courtney Kibby Designs with your readership, clicks, engagement, and feedback. Whether it’s every day, once a week, once a month – it means a lot. I work so hard on this corner of the internet I’ve created. So thanks for stopping by and making my creative dreams come true.
And if you liked this story, share it with someone who might need a pick-me-up today at my expense. 🤣
