Hey friend!
My mortified meter was at its highest point.
Alright, picture this: there I was, twirling on the stage like a graceful swan, ready to captivate the audience with my ballet moves.
Except, it wasn’t ballet moves. It was a Spelling Bee, and apparently my body had other plans, because sitting down gracefully into my seat after spelling a word was not in the cards that day, at least not at the beginning. Life decided to throw a hilarious curveball my way. Cue the comedic music!
So, picture me in the midst of a breathtaking routine — aka I just spelled the word correctly — when suddenly, my foot decides to have a little rendezvous with my tutu (skirt). The result? A not-so-graceful stumble over the chair that would make even Laurel and Hardy proud.
I could practically hear the audience snickering, and I wish I could say I joined in.
My mortified meter was at its highest point. So instead of laughing, I wanted to crawl under my chair, really be about a millimeter in height and crawl under the leg of my chair, and hide).
That embarrassing mishap became my muse, friend.
It was like a light bulb moment, you know?
I realized that life isn't about perfection and flawless performances. It's about finding the beauty in our quirks and embracing our imperfections.
And like a lot of my art collections, that's what this upcoming collection centers around – the imperfect perfect of summer.
I don't like summer. I'd prefer for it to be a chilly 65 degrees, slight breeze, and wear a sweatshirt everyday. I said what I said.
BUT – I do love the beautiful memories that come with summer. The perfect imperfect memories. The splashing in the pool, watching the sailboats (on a screen for now until we get to Florida later this summer), how it's 15 degrees hotter on a tennis court (okay, I don't love that part, but I do love tennis).
Would you believe it started when I put my brush in the WRONG color paint?
…at least it wasn't my coffee this time…
In this collection, the colors mix, and are jumbled. They're layered and unreal. It's like the feeling of summer – this amazing time when it feels normal to host a dinner party outside (albeit, not in Oklahoma since it feels like 100 already), sit by the chimenea with a charcuterie board and one of these (affiliate link) to keep flies away (we are still outside).
I could go on and on, but I'll leave you with a quick preview of a piece I couldn't wait to share with you.
It's safe to say, I'm obsessed.
So, my friend, whenever I gaze upon this artwork, it reminds me to enjoy the simple moments (and the mishaps), rise with grace, and transform our blunders into beautiful moments of triumph.
Life's too short to take ourselves too seriously, right?
And don't forget to get on the WAITLIST for this collection. You'll get a couple of extra preview outside of Fine Art Friday. I can't waitfor you to see the rest of the pieces and all the beauty I have in store.
By the way, I'd love to hear about one of your funniest mishaps or unexpected adventures. We all have those stories that make us giggle uncontrollably. So, spill the beans and let's share a laugh together. Because in the end, laughter is the secret ingredient that makes life a little sweeter and a lot more entertaining!
No matter how you got here, thank you. Thank you for supporting Courtney Kibby Designs with your readership, clicks, engagement, and feedback. Whether it’s every day, once a week, once a month – it means a lot. I work so hard on this corner of the internet I’ve created. So thanks for stopping by and making my creative dreams come true.\
BTW – let's circle back to that Spelling Bee. I ended up winning the entire thing, so how about them apples and competitive spirit?! 😂
And if you liked this story, share it with someone!
