On Auntie Anne’s and holiday shopping…
Last weekend I got to talking with @anniebradydesign about the sweetness of shopping in stores during the holiday season.
I remember walking around the mall as a kid, Auntie Anne’s pretzel in hand, of course, with my mom and sister. Experiencing the magic of be season — Look at that beautiful tree! Isn’t that Santa over there!? Wow could this pretzel BE anymore delightful!? (I prefer plain with cheese, but my sister always wanted cinnamon sugar)
The joy of picking out the perfect gift in person — getting to imagine the response.
It wasn’t just a check off the list. It was a lovingly considered purchase. Choosing a gift that made the season even more sweet.
Real talk? I’d love to do this with my kids but OMG it is hard to get out with 4 kids in tow.
➡️BUT these memories? They mean so much to me, and I want my kids to have them too.
I know this feels a little anti-online shopping (which is hard for me to say as someone 🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️who has an online shop) — but if you get the chance...
Get out of the house, off your phone, away from Amazon and Target, (and dare I say it, this app?) and go INTO the store. Small stores. Local stores. Stores with people who will remember your name. (@magpietulsa is a great option if you’re in Tulsa, and it’s sure to get you in the holiday spirit!)
Get messy and make the gingerbread houses (and not worry about it being IG worthy).
Keep the kids up late, get some @starbucks cocoa and drive all over town to see the Christmas lights.
Buy the gift you’ve been eyeing, wrap it up with care and get excited for the giving part of the season.
Because this season isn’t about the THINGS — it’s about the memories, the joy, and most importantly in our home, the Savior who came to start his big rescue project.

Ornaments and nutcrackers are available until 12-12-23 when I close up my shop for the year!!
Full disclosure, these ornaments refer to themselves as “heirlooms,” not ornaments. Each one is painted by hand, so it’s extra special. Comes with fancy table manners. ☺️
This video is from @anniebradydesign shop @magpietulsa last Saturday and it’s what dreams are made of.
