Raise your hand if…
You’re old enough to remember and feel a little nostalgic about dial-up internet and the sheer JOY of hearing those 3 little words, “You’ve got mail!”
It's me, casually sliding into your inbox on on Halloween — no tricks, just treats — like we've bumped into each other at Zabars – nope I wasn't hiding behind that Gouda stand because I didn't put makeup on today if THAT's what you're thinking…
For future reference, that was kind of a hard segway to be able to use this GIF^^, but here we are, and I'm happy with how it turned out, because why WOULDN'T I want to use a Meg Ryan gif? I'm embracing my Meg Ryan Fall Era –
f you're anything like me, you've been watching a LOT of Meg Ryan (fall) movies.
When Harry Met Sally.
You've Got Mail.
Sleepless in Seattle.
Kate and Leopold.
NOT In the Land of Women – that one was weird.
Meg is the QUEEN of FALL after all.
And apparently a whole NEW fall Meg Ryan rom-com that's come out? I gotta check it out – please no spoilers, but if you've seen it hit REPLY and tell me what you thought! 😂✨
ALL THAT MEG RYAN NOSTALGIA got me thinking…
Raise your hand if you're old enough to remember and feel a little nostalgic about dial-up internet and the sheer JOY of hearing those 3 little words, “You’ve got mail!” …
BUT still young enough to *bounce* when a webpage takes too long to load…
Well, painting with watercolor is like that — kind of.
Once I have a photo, I feel the excitement in my chest as I begin sketches. Each strike of the pencil and swish of the brush feels slower than the dings and dials of dialup internet in the 90s…
You may or may not remember — this is the famous dialup internet that took over your land line in order to be able to get ONline. And really? When I’m painting that’s how it feels! Everything shuts down— the whole world is quiet except the sound of my brush, the tinkling of the glass jar from cleaning the brushes.
But that feeling when the painting finishes? Knowing that soon my clients will get to see their piece — will receive their very own YOU’VE GOT MAIL 💌into their mailbox brings the same joy as getting an email in the 90s — not one of those *you must send this to 10 people* emails… but a REAL email from someone you wanted to talk to. NY152 maybe? And a painting is waaaay better than that!
And as of TODAY I'm accepting a limited number of photo-to-painting commissions. This is a curated and simplified version of my signature in-studio commissions. All of these pieces will be completed and ready for holiday gifting.
HOW IT WORKS:
1. You send your photo.
2. I paint it.
3. You get MAIL. (hint.. it’s your painting)
4. Frame and hang your painting.
5. Get compliments for the rest of time…

With so much love,
