Valentine's Day Cakes are the way to my heart.
That's it, that's the newsletter.
In case you're curious though, I'm referring to the pink Little Debbie's heart cakes that come in packs of 2 – the original pink cakes with vanilla inside and what I can only assume will be readily available in heaven, none of that chocolate nonsense.
ICYMI – here's how my distrust of Valentine's Day got started…
But when it comes to these Little Debbie's?
They're good every👏dang👏time👏.
**except the random batch I got one year that tasted burned (ew). I'll let that one slide because even through the ingredients I can't pronounce, and knowing they're absolutely terrible for me, I love them.
And just like these Valentines day cakes are my NUMBER ONE favorite thing about Valentine's day – you know I'm going to bring it all back to art – so here's my NUMBER ONE tip for couples getting married (and a special event!).
WHY won't this work!?
Said me, as my sister tried to get my bustle to hook correctly. (This was before the door was locked and wouldn't open for our grand entrance, but that's a story for another day).
Let's back up— the ceremony was over, and my brand new husband if and I got in the limo with our whole bridal party to CELEBRATE on the way to the reception.
It was so full of excitement and joy.
But when we got to the reception, after my sister finally got my bustle to hook , and not a moment too soon because my husband and I were swiftly ushered into a private room where our kind wedding planner had a champagne toast prepared for us — and only us.
It was the sweetest gift we never knew we needed.
A moment of calm in the beautiful chaos.
A moment to enjoy and celebrate — to toast
just the two of us to our exciting adventures to come.
It was short and sweet, but it's a moment that has stuck out to me over the last 10 years.
That and a reminder that you should always have a plan of attack when it comes to bustling a dress...
So...
What's my NUMBER ONE tip for couples getting married?
find a moment to sneak away by yourselves to celebrate.
Your future self will thank you.
And my number 2 tip? Hire me to paint your wedding and get a moment like this, and a painting you'll share with your children, and they'll share with their children.
And another number 1 tip for Valentine's Day? Give Art, not chocolate. Give EXPERIENCES that you'll remember.
Much like this one that is happening at the newest (coolest) bar in Tulsa on Valentine's Day — Tina's.
Hosting a special Valentina's dinner — complete with a yummy dinner and excellent drinks (obviously), flowers from Ever Something, and yours truly painting live — super unique pieces channeling an Italy vibe and a night you don't want to miss.
If you're in Tulsa, sign up here.
Not local? Shoot me an email or click here and I can make YOU one of these pieces like I'm doing for Valentina's.
And I know I said give art not chocolate, but also feel free to eat the chocolate and enjoy.
Love you so much and chat so soon!
xoxo
